The shadows she observed on the lawn inspired her to work for months on a technique, which in contrast did not portray the selected object onto canvas. When objects live or a thing that can be eaten, like humans and fruits, they become a painting of them. Alexa's style of painting exhibits a hazy quality and all remaining of Alexa Meade is her photograph. The painting and photography techniques are closely coordinated and result in a two-dimensional, flat area that is trompe l'oeil. The only elements of the picture such as the hair, or eyes, reveal the 3D dimension. At times, Meade integrates her painted models into the three-dimensional world around them, allowing the models to be part of this self-created world. In this way, she is able to blur the lines between photography, painting and performance.
